The book of Romans can be seen as the theological heart of the New Testament Gospel. The Apostle Paul sets out to explain the Gospel as “the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” (1:16). It reveals the power of God—not just for conversion, but for transformation. True Christians are saved, are being saved, and will be saved—and the power all along the way is the Gospel. It is easy then to understand why the book of Romans, perhaps more than any other book of the Bible, has been instrumental in the lives of some of the greatest Christian preachers and theologians in history. Some of the greatest spiritual revivals in history have been unleashed as a result of the recovery of the theology found in this “most important letter ever written”.
